Launch Rods
RATTworks is pleased to announce that we now stock aerospace-quality 1/2" by 6' stainless
steel launch rods. The rods are manufactured by Monterey Machine Products, an aerospace manufacturer
who has fabricated parts for the aircraft and aerospace industry since 1953. Made out of 302
condition B stainless steel which is cold worked to a hardness of over 130 kpsi, it gives
exceptional strength, stiffness, and corrosion resistance. The OD is centerless ground down to
.490" diameter to allow for easy insertion into 1/2" ID launch lugs. The 6' rod breaks
down into two pieces, each three feet long. One end is beveled and radiused for safety and
non-marring of your rocket, the other end is internally threaded by cold forming, which gives added
strength and closer tolerance. Both pieces thread together, and come with a protective nylon web.
They are now available from RATTworks for $39.95 plus $5 for shipping. There is also a two foot
extension available for $20 each, threaded on both ends which fit in between the three foot
